Still a lot of work to be done on content such as building and exploring. Totally killed all enjoyment for me on 10-24-17 by "updating" most icons to become vague outlines of items woth graphics that look like vomited random pixels. I waited 1 month after that update to see if they would fix it before I posted this review.. This game is amazing, totaly new concept for a survival game. Love it, recoment it to anyone looking for something new in the world of survival games. Reminds me of 'WaterWorld' again LOVE IT. With the recent update however, at least for me I cant load up the game, ill get to the loading screen and itll just crash.. Step 1: Buy GameStep 2: Launch GameStep 3: Start New game and enter your nameStep 4: Game CrashesStep 5: Return to Step 2This has been my experience thus far with Landless. Will change review if I ever get to play it.. I bought this game due to the very positive reveiws its received lately and the trailers and was very disappointed with in the first hour of playing this game i had to shut it down thru the task manager several times losing almost all progress due to bugs and the A.I. is very bad i can not recommend this game in its current state. I am not trying to be offensive, because I know it's still Early Access, but I don't like the way that it's SO laggy. But even with brand new Internet at 11:00 AM on a school day and I'm the only one using my internet, it crashes every 10 minutes. No, not my computer, because my computer is 7 months old. That's pretty really new.. Terrible gameplay.. This is a game from a SMALL indie developer. They are having some personnel issues but they are still releasing updates and communicating, albeit sparingly. As for the game, in its unfinished, unpolished early access form, it's a lot of fun already. Look past the strange, medieval placeholder NPCs and models and what you have is a true Ocean Survival Simulator. Hunger, thirst and sleep needs are fully implemented and already polished. The needs are realistic while not being spammy with constant reminders or an intrepid seige of balancing survival and building. In other words, you have to pay attention to food and water and not having any will kill you, but it takes a while so you can focus on getting something built. Unfortunately, powered, fuel drinking motors are the only method of conveyance at this time and the fuel consumption is slightly ridiculous given the lack of available alternatives and the cost of manufacturing or purchasing more. I understand the developers intentions in making fuel scarce in a landless world, but realistically there are other methods of propulsion that don't leave you adrift in the middle of nothing, distilling water and eating fish until you dredge enough materials up using the fishing minigame to manufacture some fuel. While semi-realistic it can quickly become a boring chore that sucks the fun out of exploring. That being said, the game is EARLY ACCESS and that method of development isn't for everyone but these guys seem to have a solid foundation and this game given enough nurturing could become a fantastic addition to a game collection. As is, I feel it is worth the $15 asking price. Would Recommend.Game Mechanics: 8/10 Current Visual Art: 4/10 (Place holders drag this down - once custom art is finished it will go up)Depth of Play: 6/10 (From a survival aspect - quest lines not so much yet)Value for Price: 7/10. I like the idea of this game but wow is it under developed. I understand that this is EA access game but this one in particular is REALLY alpha. 1. The UI is probably the worst ive seen in years. Not kidding here.2. The mouse control of the character is wobbly and just bad. Even for a game developed on Unity which has never been a good engine imo the controls are horrible.3. The graphics are almost all untextured at this point it would seem because they are not good at all.4. The characters and animations are worse than minecraft for the most part lolCompared to other EA survival games like ARK, 7D2D, Subnautica and a few others this game is not even close to their quality, not even in the same ballpark. Now that being said, all of these things can be addressed before its released. I would just recommend not buying this game until it is WAY WAY WAY further along in development. Unless you enjoy helping debug and game and if thats the case there is A LOT to debug here ;). Would not punch sharks again. Debating on asking for a refund or see if this is going somewhere. Interface is clunky at best. You can be standing in front of a merchant and the interact is for a chest 10 feet away and a story above you. Navigation is horrible. Potential is there but this has a LONG LONG way to go. Ok,Let's be clear here: You're getting early access. That said, this is actually a fun experience that has the potential to be a cool indie title. They need to polish things but I've own this game only a few weeks and there have already been several updates to it ,even including adding underwater stuff. So in terms of ambition, these guys have it. The graphics aren't great but it's an interesting enough premise that it keeps you playing despite the way it looks. I get a very waterworld feel from this game but like the mundane day to day stuff that you didn't see in the movie. You're Kevin Costner in a flooded world trying to survive. If not now, this is definitely one to keep an eye on.
